Meet Us
My love for music began at an early age and the first record that I ever bought (after slowly saving up my
£1 a week pocket money) was none other than Whitney Houston’s. Her dynamic, original and truly powerful
voice meant that in my very early days as a ‘secret singer’, I longed to create a voice that had the ability to captivate others.
I continued my career as a ‘secret singer’ until the age of 16. I even kept my own Mum in the dark… But the secrecy was lifted when I invited her to a school concert to hear me sing in a (wait for it) teachers’ band. Not the ‘coolest’ start, but a start nonetheless… I remember seeing my mum sunk low in her seat, hands hovering near her eyes (or maybe her ears), worrying about what on earth would come out of my mouth, but as the first few notes of Patsy Cline’s ‘Crazy’ were sung, her head bobbed up and a small, somewhat surprised smile appeared on her face. That was the start of my not-so-secret singing
career and I haven’t looked back since. At age 18, I made my first demo CD covering Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’, alongside Rod Stewart’s ‘Sailing’; from there I have sung at weddings (and funerals) and charity functions. Now I embark upon a new journey with Mick, whose unique guitar expertise accentuates my equally unique vocal tone.
I have played electric guitar for many years and travelled extensively playing in a few successful bands you may or may not know, I have been lucky enough to play alongside some fantastic musicians during this time but I have always had a love of the acoustic guitar and of the female singing voice so I wanted to try and develop a way of playing the acoustic guitar that encompasses the whole song giving a full sound as if we had a full band. This meant trying to learn a hybrid finger style, the key words here are "trying to learn" well as I am trying to learn I thought it would be great to have a duo with an
